Acupuncture.
Acupuncture is one of the oldest recorded forms of medicine having been used for over 2500 years in China. Modern science has shown that acupuncture stimulates the brain to produce natural pain relieving chemicals, endorphins. These assist the body to heal itself and give pain relief. It is often worth trying acupuncture for conditions which have not responded well to orthodox medicine.

Pilates.
Due to poor postural habits, stress, repetitive movements at work, whilst playing sports or after injury, our bodies can develop muscular imbalances. This means some muscles may become weak and loose tone whilst others become tight and shorten. This can adversely alter the way we move and may ultimately lead to injury. This method is particularly useful for back and neck pain sufferers as they often develop weakness in the deep abdominal and back muscles that prevent them from fully recovering. Physiotherapists have long been aware of the benefits of strengthening these muscles, and have found the Pilates Method to be a safe and effective way of achieving this to reduce the incidence of back pain.

Video Gait Analysis.
The way your foot makes contact with the floor will initiate a chain of movements that pass along the whole body rather like gears in a machine. if the foot and ankle are not in the correct alignment, for example pronation (commonly called flat feet) problems will occur in the foot ankle, knee hip and commonly the back. Often video analysis show a runner may only require advice on exercises and the correct type of trainers. Sometimes corrective orthotics maybe needed to re-align the foot.
